SOLASTALGIA ~ kickstarter

Been a busy year or so, not that you’d know it by looking here…..maybe I’ll have to pay more mind to updates?

For now:

HONOURED to be working with the immensely talented Millefiore Clarkes for the second time. This latest project is a “lyrical, dramatic film that follows one woman as she grapples with a sense of hopelessness caused by climate change.”

This is a matter that’s on a lot of folks minds these days. I myself have people in my life that are grappling with what might be described as mental health issues stemming from this sense of imminent and impending “doom” of a negatively altered climate.

Stay tuned for some thoughtful work, and hopefully thoughtful sounds 🤞

In the meantime please check out the Kickstarter and give if you see fit. You’ll really be helping us maximize.

MANY THANKS!

Also if you don’t know, check out “The Song and Sorrow”, a great Doc I worked on (sound design and editing) with Mille last year.

Art in the Open 2017

I'm proud to announce have two pieces in the festival this year. the first piece, untitled at this point, is collaboration with Allie Higgins, a contemporary interpretive dancer based in Toronto. We will be presenting a multimedia dance performance/video installation in the woods of Victoria Park.

The second piece is my own work, titled "999Gb skyline (input/output)" I'm very excited about it, and don't want to say too much. See you  at the end of August, hope you can make it out, or to PEI, I'll be sure to document everything well for those who can't make it but are interested.

Wrap up

Happy to report that both Wakefest and Art In The Open were big successes. Really enjoyed "AITO" especially as I had the chance to talk with many of the folk out viewing my installation. Special thanks to Malissa, Nancy and Luke for helping out with Install. Was great to have old friends and new all smashed together with a dash of family. Proud to be an Island boy, always nice to bring my ARTZ home. Lots of new projects right on the horizon.

See you out there, I'm just riding the wave🌊🌊🌊

Wakefest 2016

Happy to announce I'll be participating in Wakefest in Wakefield, QC this summer. My as yet untitled piece will be constructed of sounds residents of the area record themselves and send to me. I'm hoping to cut through to a nostalgic core of the soundscape of the community.  People are sending me sounds that represent the area to them. If you are able to, come to Wakefield to check it out. Stay tuned to wakefest.org for details.

Art In The Open 2016

HAPPY to announce I'll be presenting my Installation "United States of Anamnesis" August 27 in Charlottetown Prince Edward Island as part of the Art In The Open event. Stay tuned for more news coming up, in the mean time here's a quick description of what to expect!

RIDING THE WAVE

United States of Anamnesis

In the Winter of 2016 artist Simon White and his partner travelled 20,000 kilometres from Prince Edward Island across the United states, coast to coast, and back. Along the way, White recorded and logged the geographic coordinates of sounds that pulled his interest. “United States of Anamnesis”  is a fixed multimedia electroacoustic sound installation presented in 8 channels, with projections and constructions, composed of these recordings.

The installation is an exploration of nostalgia as well as geographic correlation in changing sound characteristics.
